After a series of executive loss, Allan Leinwand – the creator of the Z-cloud, left Zynga this month. Seems, like the company is also getting into some kind of brain-drain problems.
The next generation of the popular Facebook-game is Zynga´s first game built entirely in 3D. The main question is: Are FarmVille enthusiasts now building a whole new farm in FV2 and still continuing to maintain their farm in the original version?
Zynga seems to become somekind of target for poachers across the entire social gaming industry. Kixeye´s customer base is much more male than the average CityVille player, so the future will show how he performs there.
COO John Schappert resigned after the management shuffle and all employees received equity awards to prevent them leaving after Zynga´s financial shortfall.
Well, that doesn´t really come unexpected… – as Zynga´s top executives were selling their shares for an average USD 12,- before the big drop. Now, shares are at around 3,-, so their sell-off timing was pretty good.
If this is true, it´s going to heavily change the gambling-software landscape – despite the fact that this has been a long-expected move anyways.
A net loss uf USD 22,8 million with revenues of USD 332,4 million. Number of monthly paying players rose to 4,1 million from 3,5 million – but mostly due to the acquistion of OMGPOP (“Draw Something” – a USD 183 million deal).
Shares of Zynga plummeted by 35 percent immediately, but also Facebook-shares slid almost 7 percent to USD 27,33 (as Zynga is still contributing 15 percent of Facebook´s revenues).
Since its IPO in December, Zynga has shed almost 70 percent of its value!
