Sony obviously is very serious about visual quality with it´s VR headset to be launched in fall – and obviously will be capable to show one scene using the VR and another scene on the television or monitor.

CCP is one of the leading developers for VR games and Gunjack will launch on Samsung´s Gear VR platform later this month. EVE: Valkyrie is expected to launch with the Oculus Rift and Playstation VR in early 2016. The cash injection should help them to keep the leading position.

USD 215m have been tried to raise within the games category, only 43 percent of projects have been successful with a total of USD 23 million collected. Film and video are leading at Kickstarter in number of projects submitted, followed by music. The games category takes 7th place.

According to NPD Group´s latest study, kids have an avverage of 12 apps on their mobile devices, out of which 6,5 are gaming apps and 88 percent of the total apps were acquired for free.
Gaming is by far the most popular on a kid´s average 5 times one-hour sessions per week.

European Commission has extended the 20 per cent tax rebate for French developers if they can prove that the games in questions are culturally significant. The priviledge will end Dec. 31st, 2017 earliest now.
This news has special significance for the UK industry, as the last budget sees the British government´s promise of a games tax break scheme for Britain as well.

A major strength of HTML5 ist the potential portability across devices that implement the interfaces (which they sure will do). Although the handling of different screen-sizes and formats needs a professional approach, savings on not developing native applications in addition to a web-application are potentially enormous.

Business-models within the gaming-industry change…. Non-OTC gaming-products (eg downloads, item-selling, pay-per-use) have reached a volume of USD 3,3 billion in the U.S. and Europe. The only kind of misleading fact: Game rentals and used games are still included into that, even if they are still classic boxed-games.
