The company´s first outside investor (USD 500.000 in 2004) made nearly USD 400 million from last week´s sale – not a bad return… 5,6 million shares remain with him now. Even though timing looks a bit ugly, the cash-out is quite understandable.

Facebook Shares Hit New Low as a Lockup Period Ends

About two billion shares of early investors and employees will be able to sell from now until next May. The lockup expiration adds pressure to the stock, which declined to USD 19,68 – which is nearly half of the IPO-price of USD 38,-.

But largest tranche of lockup-shares are eligible to come on the market in November – so there is more trouble to come…
