148.424 print books were self-published in 2011, as well as 87.201 eBooks. – Smashwords was the largest eBook producer with Amazon´s CreateSpace ranked 2nd.
4,6 million eBooks sold in Germany within the first half year of 2012 – which will be a total market-share between 2 and 3 percent for the full year. 41 percent are free titles of independent authors who try to find their audience.
The average price for eBooks sold was EUR 8,64.
Sounds like a milestone for ePublishing: YTD-figures in the U.S. show Ebook revenues at USD 282,3 million vs. hardcovers hit USD 229,6 million. Interesting enough: The only growth in hardcovers is within the young adult/children´s category.
