EA´s free-to-play version of its evergreen football franchise has obviously quadrupled revenues in Korea.
On the positive side, EA beat earnings estimates for Q1 with USD 977 million total net revenue – including USD 419 million digital revenue (a nearly 100% growth compared to Q1 2011).
The company now reports 1,3 million active subscribers for Star Wars: The Old Republic, which is positioned to take market share away from WOW.
EA has won The Consumerist´s Worst Company in America award by an impressive 64 percent vote against “rivals” like Walmart, PayPal or Bank of America.
And this statement was released by EA to GamesIndustry.biz: “We’re sure that bank presidents, oil, tobacco and weapons companies are all relieved they weren’t on the list this year. We’re going to continue making award-winning games and services played by more than 300 million people worldwide.” – no additional comment needed, I guess…..
