PC trumps mobile, console in booming $61bn digital games market

Mobile games revenues are up 10% globally, to a total USD 25,8 billion – whilst subscription-based gaming continued to decline by another 4 percent. Highest grossing publishers in 2015: Activision (USD 2,9 billion), Supercell (USD 1,64 billion) and Tencent (USD 1,62 billion – most of it with cash-cow “League of Legends”). Also interesting: Though mobile games attract most of the general interest, the PC gaming market still is larger (with USD 32 billion revenues in total). Digital console games stay to be a smaller category with a total of USD 4 billion revenues annually.

Security Startup Malwarebytes Raises Another $50M

This is what I call a round of financing: Malwarebytes has raised USD 50 million from Fidelity Management and Research Company for financing international growth. A big step for a company starting as a students´security project. And proof, there is still some space for security software products.

Skillz launches new eSports multiplayer platform

Mobile eSports company Skillz has been busy working building its brand (which is easier with a total funding of USD 28 mio. raised) and claims to have 7 million registered players now. The platform is planned to pay out over USD 1 million in cash prizes every two weeks.
